Our Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit our store.
I am a mum of two beautiful girls and after more than a decade working in the world of marketing , I have embarked on a new journey to pursue a vision in creating a brand for children, a refined range of universal medical ID jewellery.
This is our story.
Remy arrived in April 2017, my first born. Exclusively breastfed, Remy started to develop an itchy rash on her chin & an upset tummy that would occur after most meals. The days were long, Remy was terrible unsettled. As a new mum I was desperate for answers. After a trip to my GP we were certain there was an allergy to food present, a reaction that was occurring through my breast milk. Something I was eating.
As allergy testing isn't available until 6 months old, it was an anxious wait and I was conscious of everything I consumed not knowing if the next meal would cause a reaction.
At 6 months old, we visited the immunologist and after a series of tests we found out that our baby girl was allergic to egg and prescribed an Epi Pen (adrenaline injector) for anaphylaxis. Over the last 5 years her allergy to egg has worsened though thankfully to this day the Epi pen hasn't been used.
Remy is our entertainer, ready to light up any stage. A lover of unicorns, rainbows & fairies. Our daily dose of sparkle and the fuel mummy needed to embark on this crazy ride of launching a new business.
In April 2020, Nelly entered our world. Remy found her best friend, a sister.
Also exclusively breastfed from birth, knowing the potential risks we started introducing allergens to Nelly from 4 months old. The first was egg, no allergic reaction occurred though very aware of the long list of foods to try, the process began. After tasting hummus and pesto, Nelly developed a bright red rash around her mouth. Mind racing and after another anxious wait to the 6 month mark, she was diagnosed with an allergy to sesame & tree nuts. An Epi pen was also prescribed due to the potential risk of anaphylaxis.
Nelly is our little fire cracker, a smile that will light up any room, a born comedian who loves to make you laugh. My final push that I needed to get this dream rolling.
I have developed a brand that children alike would be proud to wear. A product range that meets the needs of all mini fashionistas out there, a line of refined medical jewellery that boys & girls could wear without being made to feel different, that serves the very important purpose of identifying not just a food allergy but a medical or health condition. Whether it be asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, food allergy etc. A classic piece that can be worn day or night, to school or special occasion that acts as a constant reminder, a talking point, to raise awareness and to educate. Wearable pieces for tiny tots to teens, to help signify a medical condition if an allergic reaction or medical emergency occurs. Universally, emergency responders are trained to look for the Star of Life medical symbol worn as a necklace or bracelet which states a health condition.
Welcome to our Star of Life, Sol by Issy Collection.
Much love
Amy
